CalFresh Update for San Francisco Residents Affected by the December 2025 Blackouts
Power was out to a large part of San Francisco over the weekend (December 20th-21st), and remains out in some neighborhoods as of the afternoon of December 22nd. At this point, it is likely that many people have lost the food in their fridge, and maybe also their freezer.
San Francisco CalFresh recipients affected by the outage should be able to get up to about 70% of their monthly allotment by submitting a CF 303 form, with a short description of what happened, to SFHSA at food@sfgov.org.The deadline to submit the form is 10 days from the loss. Affected residents may also want to go into the county office or call them at (855) 355-5757.
If the request is denied, or not acted upon timely, affected residents can request a hearing by calling (800) 743-8525. (Deadline: 90 days from the adverse action, if any.)
