URGENT News About Economic Impact Payments: May 5th Deadline to Claim Dependent Child Payments This Year

May 5 is the final day for SSI recipients who did not file a 2018 or 2019 tax return to claim their dependent children on the IRS non-filers’ web tool in order to receive the additional $500 per qualifying child this year. Those who do not file by 5/5 can still claim the $500 economic impact payment per dependent child by filing a 2020 tax return.

Individuals on SSI, SSDI or VA benefits, and those who filed a 2018 or 2019 tax return, should receive their $1200 Economic Impact Payment automatically, either by check or direct deposit.
