The New Republic Covers Barriers to Equal Justice and the Importance of Legal Aid—Including BayLegal

An in-depth, long-form article appearing online at The New Republic offers compelling reading for anyone interested in the history, current issues, and future development of civil legal aid. We’re proud to highlight the participation of BayLegal attorneys Steven Weiss and Raegan Joern, and client Kevin Green*, along with the range of other legal aid organizations and advocates. We are grateful to author Kathryn Joyce for  herclear-eyed, historically informed view of barriers to equal access to justice, the impact of disparate resources within the civil legal system along class and racial lines, and some of the strategies being developed to push back against these deep inequities.
