베이 지역 법률 지원 (BayLegal) is a non-profit law firm. Our staff provide free civil legal services to individuals and families living in poverty throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Our community-based service model includes a wide range of access points, including legal hotlines, six physical offices, community-based advocacy clinics, and intake points. We practice in multiple inter-related legal substantive areas to prevent and stop homelessness, increase economic stability, protect low-income consumers, expand access to healthcare, and enhance safety for survivors of interpersonal violence. Our clients include the working poor, families with children, foster youth, seniors, immigrants, veterans, individuals impacted by the criminal and juvenile legal systems, and persons with disabilities. The core of our community-based practice is working alongside our individual clients to protect their legal rights, resolve immediate crises and remove legal barriers to long-term stability and escaping poverty. BayLegal is also uniquely positioned to identify patterns of illegal practices and engage in opportunities to protect the legal rights of low-income communities and increase efficiency and effectiveness of public services through broader advocacy and impact litigation.

• 소비자 보호 – 알라메다, 콘트라 코스타, 샌프란시스코, 샌마테오, 산타 클라라 – 저소득 소비자에게 영향을 미치는 경제적, 재정적 문제를 해결하기 위한 옹호 및 소송을 지원합니다. 저소득 소비자는 특히 고비용 신용, 약탈적 대출, 신용 보고 오류, 고용 및 주택 배경 보고서 문제, 약탈적 영리 학교, 신용 복구 조직 및 압류 구제 사기와 같은 불공정한 사업 모델에 취약합니다. 고객 인터뷰를 지원하고 법적 문제를 파악하고, 법적 소송을 초안하고, 법적 조사 및 작성을 수행하는 방법을 배웁니다. 자격증을 취득한 법학생은 법정에 출두하도록 권장됩니다.
  • 소비자 권리 클리닉 – 알라메다, 콘트라 코스타, 샌프란시스코, 샌머테이오, 산타클라라 – 이 클리닉은 소비자법 문제에 대한 정보를 제공하고 필요한 양식을 작성하기 위해 참석자와의 일대일 회의와 권리에 대한 워크숍으로 구성됩니다. 법률 서기는 채무 추심 소송과 관련된 양식을 작성하고 고객의 면제 소득과 임금을 추심 활동으로부터 보호하는 데 중점을 둡니다.
• 경제 정의 (EJ) – 알라메다, 콘트라코스타, 마린, 나파, 샌프란시스코, 산타클라라 – 고객이 절실히 필요한 건강 보험과 공공 및 장애인 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 지원합니다. 직접 개인 대리 및 진행 중인 영향 소송에 참여합니다. 사무원은 Medi-Cal, Medicare, Healthy Families, CalWORKs, General Assistance, CalFresh, Supplemental Security Income(SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance(SSDI) 및 일반 건강 접근 문제에 대해 알아봅니다. 사건은 종종 시민권, 언어 접근 및 가정 폭력과 교차합니다. EJ 고객의 경우 사무원은 자격을 파악하고 증거를 수집 및 구축하고, 브리핑을 준비하고, 협상을 지원하고, 행정 심리에서 고객을 대리할 수 있는 기회를 갖습니다.

  • 가정 폭력 제지 명령 클리닉 – 콘트라 코스타, 샌 마테오 – 자녀 양육권, 면회 및 부양 명령을 포함한 민사 가정 폭력 금지 명령 보호를 추구하는 자체 대리 소송 당사자를 모든 단계에서 지원합니다. 인터뷰를 진행하고 소송장을 작성하여 소송 당사자와 직접 협력할 수 있는 좋은 기회입니다. 연중무휴로 지원서를 접수하고, 실질적인 교육을 지속적으로 제공합니다.
• 건강 접근 – 오클랜드, 샌호세 – 변호 지원 기회, 건강 서비스를 제공하는 기관 및 조직과 협상 기회, 저렴한 의료법(“오바마케어”)을 포함하여 건강 관리 서비스 및 보장 획득과 관련된 다양한 법적 문제에 대해 주 행정 심리(인증 불필요)에서 고객을 대리할 기회, 건강 관리에 대한 체계적 장벽을 해결하기 위한 정책 옹호에 참여할 기회.
• 주택 보존 – 알라메다, 콘트라코스타, 나파, 샌프란시스코, 산타클라라 – Work on homelessness prevention, file administrative complaints using Fair Housing laws to address housing discrimination issues, preserve affordable housing, and fight illegal evictions. Interview clients, prepare legal pleadings and assist with a full civil litigation case over a short amount of time (include jury trial).

• 가정 폭력 및 성폭행 생존자를 위한 이민 옹호 – 알라메다, 콘트라코스타, 나파, 샌프란시스코, 샌머테이오, 산타클라라 – 가정 폭력 및 성폭행의 저소득 이민자 생존자에게 포괄적인 법률 서비스를 제공하는 데 도움을 줍니다. VAWA 자체 청원 및 U 비자 비이민자 청원(미국 시민 또는 합법적 영주권자의 직계 가족이거나, 자신들에게 가해진 범죄의 수사 및/또는 기소에 협조하는 생존자에게 구제책을 제공하는 이민 구제책)을 지원합니다. 자격 평가, 이민 소송 준비 및 이민자 생존자와 직접 협력하는 방법을 알아보세요.
• 개별화된 법률 지원 서비스(ILSS) – 샌프란시스코 – 운전면허 정지, 범죄 경력 조사에 따른 고용 권리, 주택 거주 가능성, 소비자 신용 문제 등 고용 및 자립에 대한 법적 장벽을 제거하는 데 도움이 됩니다.
• 재진입 – 알라메다, 콘트라 코스타 – 저소득 개인이 범죄 유죄 판결 또는 체포 기록을 극복하고 우리 지역 사회에서 재자리를 잡으려는 경우 주택, 직업 허가, 공공 혜택 접근, 소비자 부채를 포함한 여러 민사 장벽에 직면합니다. 저희는 범죄 기록 구제, 운전 면허 회복, 광범위한 민사 법률 실무 분야에서의 직접 대리, 진행 중인 영향 소송 참여를 통해 이러한 고객에게 포괄적인 법률 서비스를 제공합니다.

Hybrid Work Option: BayLegal is committed to the health and safety of our staff, clients, and community.  Being accessible to our client communities and reducing barriers for them to access our services is integral to our mission and commitment as a direct services community-based law firm.  BayLegal law clerks are expected to work on-site and in-person at a BayLegal office or  community-based advocacy site at least three (3) days per week and may work remotely from home on a part-time basis.  Law clerks are expected to reside in California and at a distance allowing them to commute to their physical BayLegal base location, and to other service delivery locations as needed, during the standard work week. 

Work Environment: This position is primarily sedentary. When in office, the student can expect to be working at a desk in a temperature-controlled office, in a modular space or individual office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In-person travel to court and for outreach/meetings may be required.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, the student is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The student must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Commitment to complying with all California Rules of Professional Conduct, BayLegal funding requirements, and firm standards, policies, and practices.
• Current proficiency in email management (Outlook calendar; email) and data entry.
• Willing to be on-site at BayLegal office or advocacy site at least three days per week and as needed to serve clients.
• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required (self-certification).
• Students who speak Spanish, Cantonese, Russian, Vietnamese, or other Southeast Asian languages, are encouraged to apply.
• We encourage students who have completed the required Evidence Course to become certified by the California State Bar to represent clients in court.

타임라인 – Law clerkships are available throughout the school year, and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for semester clerkships. For 2026 summer clerkships, BayLegal will begin reviewing applications in mid-November. We recommend applying before March 2026.
