Honoring and Supporting Veterans at BayLegal

Bay Area Legal Aid’s offices will close this Friday, November 11th, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. We take this opportunity to reflect on the necessity of our work and that of our partner firms and organizations to address the civil legal needs of veterans, who continue to be more vulnerable to disconnection from public supports, precarious housing and homelessness, exposure to violence, and lack of adequate healthcare than the general population. We remind ourselves that California remains the state with the nation’s largest population of homeless veterans, and that our own commitment is to move toward a civil legal system in which veterans are housed, healthy, safe, honored and supported.

We hope that some of our readers will join BayLegal staff for a virtual event hosted by the Legal Services Corporation next Thursday, November 17th, at 11:00am PST, celebrating veterans and discussing the unique needs and interests of veterans residing in rural communities.
