Hilda Chan Receives 2021 Legal Aid Association of California Award of Merit

We are pleased to announce that Hilda Chan, a BayLegal Supervising Attorney, received the 2021 Legal Aid Association of California (LAAC) Award of Merit in the Legal Services category. Hilda was recognized for her tireless advocacy on behalf of low-income communities in the Bay Area in 2020. Hilda’s work includes direct services, advocacy, and impact litigation. This year, she has represented low-income tenants facing eviction and survivors escaping abuse. At the start of the pandemic, she was instrumental in advocating for eviction moratoria, particularly in Alameda County. She has also pushed for language access and access to remote hearings in the courts during the pandemic. We are proud to work beside Hilda and celebrate the work she has done to advocate for low-income communities in the Bay Area.
