Governor’s Executive Order Protects Stimulus Checks from Garnishment

Governor Gavin Newsom announced yesterday that he has issued an Executive Order protecting stimulus payments from garnishment by consumer and government debt collectors, and also providing payment relief to 1.1 million Californians with privately held student loans.
