Congratulations to Brian Blalock

Brian Blalock, one of the founding visionaries of Bay Area Legal Aid’s Youth Justice Project, and most recently law and policy director at Tipping Point Community in San Francisco, is the new Cabinet Secretary of New Mexico’s Children, Youth and Families Department.

This article in the Santa Fe New Mexican gives a glimpse of Brian’s expansive new role as an advocate at the statewide level for children and youth in child protective services, foster care, early care, and juvenile justice systems. Congratulations to Brian from all of us at BayLegal on his new role. We have seen his commitment to improving child welfare and advancing justice for youth over the course of a decade at BayLegal and Tipping Point Community. We look forward with optimism based on this experience to seeing the results of his work for the young people of New Mexico.
