BayLegal’s Services Recognized Alongside Community Partners at OneJustice Fundraising Event

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in OneJustice’s last fundraising event, “Together for Justice,” which raised vital funding for legal aid organizations providing critically needed immigration legal services in Contra Costa County—including Bay Area Legal Aid.

The event highlighted the impact of BayLegal’s immigration-related work along with that of two partner organizations—Catholic Charities of the East Bay and Immigration Institute of the Bay Area. The funds raised benefited all three organizations, and will go toward supporting Bay Area Rural Justice Collaborative Clinics—a collective of legal services organizations and law firms that coordinate to provide free legal clinics in remote Bay Area communities.

We extend a special thank-you to OneJustice for generously organizing and hosting the event, and for giving our organization the opportunity to share the goals and results of our work on the ground throughout our Bay Area communities. We also give special thank-you to the event’s featured speaker, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, who helped to situate the work of all attending organizations in the broader context of immigrant justice.

We are honored to have been recognized alongside our community partners, who work as we do to ensure that geographic isolation does not consign members of our communities to a lack of information, resources, or support. Because the the impact of scarce legal resources in rural areas tends to fall hardest on immigrant communities, we are particularly grateful to to OneJustice for choosing this particular focus for the event.

As always, we are honored to be recognized at events like Together for Justice that highlight the power of community. They further strengthen our belief that the only way forward is together, in coalition with representatives across our communities.
