BayLegal Reaches Out to Immigrant Victims of Crime

Mélody Saint-Saëns, Bay Area Legal Aid’s Regional Immigration Coordinator, appeared on Univision 14 on August 29th. In this interview (conducted in Spanish), she addresses some of the common immigration remedies available to undocumented immigrants who are victims of domestic violence, and encourages survivors to come forward.

Providing support to immigrant survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and other violent crime is a significant need in our region, and a significant area of practice for BayLegal. Getting the word out to immigrant families and communities that they can safely access legal resources, including programs leading to legal status for victims of crime, can be a challenge given the climate of fear around immigration enforcement. We are grateful to media partners like Univision 14 for helping us to carry out this critical, life-saving outreach.

Check out Univision 14’s website for a video of the full interview.
