BayLegal welcomes individuals who wish to volunteer their time and services in helping our client community obtain equal access to our justice system. We welcome applications from civic-minded individuals (attorneys, students and individuals with a range of experience legal or otherwise) interested in getting involved. BayLegal has regional offices and clinics throughout the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties). Protecting Victims of Crime

In December, lawyers from Bay Area Legal Aid's Legal Advice Line, San Mateo and San Jose offices spent an evening educating immigrant families and individuals that were victims of crimes like domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and torture about their legal rights and how to avoid immigration scams.

Workshop participants were all people who qualify for U-Visa protection because they have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse as victims of crimes and have assisted in the investigation or prosecution of these crimes.

BayLegal's pro bono program will place workshop clients with trained pro bono attorneys from firms like Latham Watkins, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Morrison Foerster and Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe to assist clients with their U-Visa applications.
