Advocate - Legal Advice Line (Oakland office)
We are seeking an Advocate for our Legal Advice Line which has staff located in Oakland, California. This person will be part of a team which provides counsel and advice to eligible clients primarily in the areas of housing, family law/domestic violence, access to health care and public benefits and the transition from welfare to employment. This person will also serve as the Office Manager for the Advice Line.
Who should apply? We are interested in candidates with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law and social justice advocacy. We seek a candidate with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Licensed attorneys, law school graduates, paralegals, and other legal professionals are encouraged to apply. BayLegal Legal Advice Line advocates and attorneys work cooperatively as part of a close knit team. Having strong organizational skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment is important. This successful candidate must have the ability to successfully communicate with people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences. Bilingual skills are required. Cantonese or Spanish language skills are preferred.
What are our compensation and benefits? Compensation is based upon experience.
